Located in the west central part of the
state, Russellville is the center of the Arkansas River Valley serving as
the industrial, financial, medical, retail, educational, and recreational
center of the Arkansas River Valley.
Russellville, the seat of Pope County, is the 13th largest city in the
state. The Arkansas River Valley population is growing at a rate
faster than that for the entire state according to the 2000 census.

Pope County Library
The Russellville location is at 116 E. 3rd Street. There are
branches in Atkins, Dover and Hector. Bookmobile service is
available throughout the county and in nursing homes. The
inter-library loan and Amigos network gives residents access to over 14
million books.
Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center
The Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center at Arkansas Tech
University was specifically designed to aid students in this burgeoning
technological world. While using the library students gain a command
of the technology that is vital to being competitive in today's workforce.
The new three-story structure offers traditional library services as well
as the very latest in information technology and interactive
communications. In addition students have access to the most current
information available while studying at Tech. This library and
technology center is a tremendous asset to the community and is open to
the public. Dedicated in 1999, it is among the country's most unique
and state-of-the-art facilities of its kind. It depicts the high
priority that is placed on lifelong learning in Russellville.
An OC3 optical fiber switch is the backbone of the system. It can
handle 44,736 megabits of digital data per second. Examples of
equipment include, but are not limited to, two distant-learning labs with
state-of-the-art television conferencing equipment, a large-format
plotter, music lab computers, high-end television quality graphics,
on-line public access, and catalog computers.
TECH has the capacity to be linked to any high school or university in
Arkansas making distance learning available statewide. Many other
in-state and out-of-state agencies and businesses can be linked.

COMMUNICATIONS
There is a daily newspaper in Russellville, published everyday except
Monday. Weekly newspapers are published in Atkins, Dover and
Dardanelle. Statewide and regional publications are also available
with daily circulation.
Several radio stations are located in Russellville, including AM, FM
and an all-Christian station. Suddenlink Communications serves cable users.
All major television networks are available through stations in Little
Rock and Ft. Smith.
CHURCHES
There are more than 50 churches representing most major denominations.
Youth minister, early services and casual services are all part of the
ways in which area churches minister to the community. The area
ministers have united to form the Russellville Area Ministerial Alliance

AIRPORT
The Russellville Municipal Airport boasts a 5,100-foot runway that is
75' wide. The airport can accommodate most corporate and private
aircraft. Hanger buildings, a maintenance facility, aviation and
jet-A fuel, a reception area, and a conference room are available.
Pilots can use a non-directional beacon and GPS approach.
The Little Rock Regional Airport is only 85 miles from Russellville and
offers complete commercial and air freight services.
